collar

Measure around the neck point, where the collor would sit. Take the measurement with one finger inside the tape measure, joining at the point where the collar buttons. Cross check this against the collar size you normally like to wear.

chest

Measure around the chest, level with the base of your armhole/arm pits. Ensure that the tape goes across the largest part of the chest area. Take the measurement with one finger inside the tape measure.

Measure around the natural waist, ensuring that the tape goes around the widest part of the waist area. Take the measurement with one finger inside the tape measure.

Measure around the hips a the point where you would like the hem of the shirt to sit. Take the measurement with one finger inside the tape measure.

Place the tape measure across the top of the shoulders. Measure across the arc of the shoulders from one shoulder point to the other. Make sure that the ideal shoulder seam point frames your shoulders, rather than sliding off the shoulder joint.

shirt length

Measure from the base of the collar, at the top of your shoulders. Measure over your pectorial/breast area and then down to the point where you would like the hem of your shirt to sit when untucked. Classic shirts are longer to be tucked in. More contempory shirts are a little shorter, so they can be worn tucked in or out casually.

sleeve

Stand normally with your arms hanging by your side. Measure from the base of the collar stand at your centre back — the mid point across your shoulders. Measure across to the shoulder joint and then down the arm. Measure to the point where your thumb and forefinger meet in the “V” of your hand. Measurements may differ from arm to arm.



bicep

Stand with your arm hanging naturally. On your dominant arm, measure around the point of your bicep, allowing one finger to sit inside the tape measure.



cuff

Measure around the hand 1cm above the point where your thumb and forefinger meet as a “V” Do not place one finger inside the tape.



sleeve at widest

Stand with your arms hanging by your side. Measure around the arm hole, so the tape is tight against the arm hole circumfrence.
